Ocoee Oaks Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategy

Ocoee Oaks Mission

We make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God and love people.

Ocoee Oaks Vision

We are a biblically-functioning community of believers who bear witness to God's redemptive purpose in Jesus Christ.

Ocoee Oaks Values

FAithfulness to the mission of God

Reconciliation

We believe that God desires every person come to the saving knowledge of God in Christ (1 Timothy 2:4). Therefore, we join Him in His mission of reconciliation by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 5:18-20).

Discipleship

We believe that we have been commissioned by God to make disciples of every person on earth, starting in Ocoee and continuing around the world (Matthew 28:18-20).

We believe that pursuing Christ and seeking to be transformed into His likeness is the norm for all believers (Romans 12:1-2; Philippians 3:13-14; Ephesians 4:22-24; Luke 8:11-15).

Holiness

We believe that God has recreated, and is recreating, all believers in holiness in the image of God in Christ and that God has called all believers to a life of holiness that reflects the character of Christ (Ephesians 1:4: Romans 12:1; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:10).

Stewardship

We believe that we are stewards of God’s grace in us (1 Peter 4:10).

We believe that we are stewards of all the financial resources God has entrusted us (Genesis 2:15; Psalm 24:1; Matthew 25:14-30).

Integrity

We believe all Christians are to be imitators of God and to live according to biblical ethical standards (Ephesians 4:17-5:5).

We believe the Church is the bride of Christ and practices compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience with those inside and outside the Church. (Colossians 3:12).

We believe all Christians should abide by the Golden Rule of doing to others as we would wish them to do to us (Matthew 7:12) and by John Wesley’s three rules of doing no harm, doing good, practicing spiritual disciplines.

Community

We believe that members of the Christian community, the body of Christ, bring glory to God by working cooperatively with one another (1 Corinthians 12:14-26).

We believe that God has called us to unity in Christ (John 17:22-24; Colossians 3:14).

We Believe the highest value in the Christian community is love (Matthew 5:43-44, 22:35-40; John 15:12-13; Romans 5:8; Romans 13:8; 1 Corinthians 13:1-13; 1 John 3:10, 4:10-11, 19-21).

Service

We believe that the Church does not exist for itself, but for the world. Therefore, we seek to meet the needs of the community around us and around the world (Matthew 25:31-46).

We believe the Church is a community of faith and that every member of the body of Christ has been gifted by God for service and best serves God and others through the use of the gifts He has given them (Roman 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Ephesians 4: 7, 11-13).

All members of Ocoee Oaks United Methodist Church through their membership vows have covenanted together to fully support the church by their prayers, presence, their gifts, their service, and their witness.

Excellence

We believe excellence honors God and inspires people. (Colossians 3:17; Malachi 1:6–14; Proverbs 27:17).

We believe that we work for God and, out of the depth of our gratitude for all He has done for us, we owe Him the very best of who we are and what we do (Colossians 3:23-24).

Learning

We believe the Bible is the basis of all teaching in the church (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3).

We believe that all Christian servants can and should develop their skills for ministry as life-long learners (1 Timothy 4:14-15).

We believe that learning takes place best in community (Luke 6:12-13; Acts 2:44-47).

Ocoee Oaks Strategy

Life Development Process.jpg

We seek to worship God with all that is within us. This is our first and most important responsibility as a community.

We seek to share the love of Christ with everyone we meet so that they might be drawn into fellowship with God and the body of Christ at Ocoee Oaks.

We help people to grow into the image of Christ through discipleship, primarily through the exercise of spiritual disciplines, LIFE Groups, and Transformation Groups.

We help people discover, develop, and deploy all that God has placed within them for His glory and in ministry to our church and community.

We launch people in mission to Ocoee, West Orange county, around the State of Florida, the United States, and around the world.
